  6. This easy-to-use database system won't clean the clutter off your
  7. desk, but it will help you keep track of all the files on your floppy
  8. disks. It has a search filename or diskname option, a report to
  9. screen, printer, or file selection, a DOS shell, and a configuration
  10. menu that lets you set the colors, data disk drive and more. It also
  11. lets you compress the data to save wasted space when files are
  12. deleted, and you also can list ZIP filenames.

  21. Make on-the-fly changes to your environment variables with EnvEd, a
  22. word processor-like full-screen editor. You can alter your PATH, and
  23. PROMPT variables, or use the DOS SET command to add more variables to
  24. the environment. All the current variables appear on the screen, and
  25. you can edit them using the cursor keys, and so on. EnvEd keeps track
  26. of the available environment space and beeps to let you know if you
  27. run out.

  37. reconfigure your system? Or maybe you decided to change your password
  38. in the script files that go with your telecommunications program?
  39. Word processors let you change one file at a time, but with REPL, a
  40. multi-search-and-replace utility, you can make all the changes at
  41. once. It even lets you replace special characters like carriage
  42. returns, tabs, line feeds, and backspaces.

  51. Save your screen! Many times burn-in occurs when a screen image is
  52. left on the monitor screen for long periods of time. You can avoid
  53. this by using Screen Saver, a screen-blanking utility that removes the
  54. screen image after a set time when the keyboard is idle. The screen
  55. returns to its former state when a key is pressed. The installation
  56. options offered are setting the blanking interval, changing the
  57. hotkey, entering password protection, and lots more.

  68. Replace the DOS ECHO command with Secho, a small utility that
  69. supports many formatting and color commands within each line to be
  70. echoed. You can draw windows, position the cursor on the screen,
  71. print variables to the screen, and lots more! Run TEST.BAT, a file
  72. included on the disk to see a sample of what Secho can do. You'll
  73. also need the file TEST.DAT in the same directory. Install the program
  74. and run TEST.BAT by entering TEST at the DOS prompt.

  85. Star Blaster, an educational math game that is an effective tool for
  86. kids from fourth grade up. You can tailor the program to fit your
  87. needs by setting the operations mode to addition, subtraction,
  88. multiplication, division, or a random mixture of all four.

  98. Welcome to COMPUTE's Menu Operating System (CMOS). To install the
  99. programs on this disk from the menu, highlight your choice on the
  100. menu and press Enter or click the left mouse button. Choose Install
  101. from the next menu, and follow the prompts to install the program. If
  102. you prefer to install the programs from DOS, exit the menu and enter
  103. MENU source destination. Source is a PAQ file or a sudirectory name.
  104. Destination is the drive and path where you want the installed files to
  105. reside. Please read the DOC files before running any of the programs.

  108. Looking for a fast way to read text files without loading your word
  109. processor? Tired of pressing Ctrl-S to stop text from scrolling
  110. offscreen with the DOS TYPE command? You need TurboTYPE (which first
  111. appeared in the July 1989 issue), a text lister that gives you the
  112. power to move forward or backward by line, by screenful, or by smooth
  113. scrolling. To run the program, enter T drive:path\filename at the DOS
  114. prompt. TurboTYPE appears on every disk, so you'll always have the
  115. latest version.
